Window Shadows

Is there any way on linux to give windows a shadow like on a Mac or windows. It gives it that polished finish i think.

One way of doing it is running X.org 6.8.x to get access to the new Composite extension, and then run a window manager with support for it (or simply use xcompmgr but the result is usually less than pleasing). I think Metacity in Gnome 2.8 has built-in Composite support.
