[*resolved- thanks] what cds are mandrake 9 are required for installation?


Do I need all the 3 CDs for installation?

only the first cd is necessary for a minimum install most everything that people would use is on it the second cd has less commonly used packages but still common and useful the third cd is rarely used

short answer: only cd1

well, lets say I wanna modify the defualt installation package... so I MAY need the 3rd CD also, right?

you may...but for the most part it will be easier to download the parts you want seperately instead of downloading a 300mb iso which you may never use

The 3rd CD is called International & Documentation CD. If you add a second language during install, or select documentation, then you will need it. Anyway, during the software feature selection phase, you are asked which disks you have. If you just downloaded the first installation disk, deselect the second two disks from the list.
