unusual question


okay,

I am at work jsut now, and I want to go into a linux chat room that a frequent at home.

however, we have a crappy windows systems in here, that is not java enabled.

I tried a CGI site, but It wouldnt let me put in the server that I need to join and instead defaults.

anyone got any suggestions?

Download the Knoppix Live CD or the Slack Live CD and run it from your CD-ROM.

work probably don't want you going into chat rooms when your, well, working.
If you have a competent sysadmin then popular chat ports are probably blocked at your work firewall/border routers.
Even if you had a system with java enabled the connection still needs to be established between your machine and the chat/irc server. Try telneting to the server to see if you can actually get out of your works lan on the port you need otherwise you may be wasting your time.
