Quote/Apostrophe Key

A few days ago I put Linux on my eMachines laptop and have gotten everything working. I selected the keyboard model ¨Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro OEM¨ so the volume control buttons will affect KMix. I mapped the other 4 function keys using KHotkeys.
I have one issue though... When I press the quote key (apostrophe actually -- w/out using SHIFT_ on my keyboard I get ´ (reverse of ` key on top left of keyboard) instead of '. Also, I have to press the key twice to put the character on the screen. I remember having problems like this before, but this time I need to fix it. :P
Is this perfectly normal or is there a way to fix it through configuring X or KDE?

Thanks.

First of all, you must know your keyboard layout. For example, my keyboard has the Latin American layout. Then you must guess the shortcut (for Latin American, it is 'la'). Then just execute setxkbmap <shortcut>.
