the problem with LMME is you have to type in each command before using it.. like to send a message, you would have to type:

/msg name-of-friend message goes here...

each time.. and so on..

ccmsn I heard has been discontinued. However I downloaded recently aMSN because it was my opinion that gaim sucked. Just head over to http://amsn.sourceforge.net to get a copy. aMSN is the new name of ccmsn as the author took over from where ccmsn left off.

I used to used ccmsn till recently that a friend of mine got me into using aapje, which I think is very nice too. But this amsn looks almost exactly alike and I think Ill give it a try for a while.

not recommending, just throwing more into the stew...

kmess
kopete

both those are made for kde but do work in other desktop environments. They both dock to kicker(windows translation- have icons in system tray). i use amsn myself because it has excellent file transfer. Haven't tried gaim for awhile so not sure about it. I agree that everybuddy sux.
If you are looking for multi-client programs, I believe that kopete also supports icq. gaim is what you could compare to trillian. If it supports file transfers also then it is the way to go. /me heads off to gaim website to check it out

Haha don't know about other people, but the fact that it is comandline driven already makes it super user friendly.

Oh yea I came across another client called "KAVA", you might like to give it a try too, not sure how good it is.

If your running Linux MSN now doesn't work

Tried it tonight and it now blocks 3rd party messengers... ****ing Microsoft...

I think their new motto should be, if it's not good for us then you pay for it.

Have a look at the version 0.83 of aMSN - the page says it "should" work after 15 Oct.
