DG965RY and Cent OS 5


I had the same problems with installing Cent OS 5 on this system:

After passing follwing kernel arguments it works fine for Cent OS 5:

linux irqpoll all-generic-ide pci=nommconf



Intel C2D 2.4 GHZ, mobo Intel 965RY, 82G965 Integrated Graphics Controller, 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection, 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller, 2 x 1GB DDR2 ram, 4 USB 2.0, 2 x seagate 160GB sata, DVD writer LITEON LH-20A1P , 1280 x 1024
Ubuntu Feisty

This works for me...

MB: DG965RY

Intel Core 2 Duo 6400@2.13 Ghz, 2 GB RAM,
Physical Address Extension.
2 ATA HDDs 160MB Each,

HD0 152 MB available, Partion Style: MBR,

Linux / Kubuntu 7.04 partitioned as : / 124MB, /usr 9.5MB, /Home 9.5 MB, /swap 4MB, free: 5MB.

HD1 152MB available, Partition style: MBR,
XP PRO partiitioned as C:\121MB, 3 unused Logicals :9MB,9MB,5MB + 3MB reboot

DVD / CD-ROM , Nero.

Unhappy To KDee, Wich memory are you using?

Hello, I have dg965ry mobo to, but i have hard time finding the right memory dimm for this that works. so my question, what type of memory are you using??? (name and typenumber)

I have a Intel Dulal Core 2 E7600, does this work on this mobo?

Is it really necessary to have a SMP kernel to take advantage of a regular dual core processor?? I have a AMD Athlon X2 4000+.

I thought that that kernel was needed only when you had more than one processor, not cores (e.g. an Intel Xeon config).

If someone can clarify me this I will be thankful.
