keyboard map : not as I think it should be

When I set up this Arch Linux box, my UK qwerty keyboard worked properly. I am not sure what I have changed (or when) but I no longer have my @ in the right place.

My /etc/rc.conf contains

LOCALE="en_GB.UTF-8"
DAEMON_LOCALE="no"
HARDWARECLOCK="UTC"
TIMEZONE="Europe/London"
KEYMAP="uk"
CONSOLEFONT=
CONSOLEMAP=
USECOLOR="yes"

Not sure where to go next.

Very strange. Everything is set as it should be. The onloy recent change I made was changing from gdm to slim. When I log in using slim, my keyboard is wrong ie not gb. When I log in with gdm, my keyboard is perfect.
