kde login sound problem.

Last Time I was trying to install various desktop environments on my mandriva machine and then when I came back to K Desktop Environment (KDE 4.3.2),I noticed that the login sound was lost.

I tried googling over the net, but the solutions provided in most of the web sites yielded no proper results.

For instance I tried the following:

Followed the path
System Settings->Notifications->Application->Event Source(KDE System Notification)
and then changed the loin sound to "login.wav"

It was but of no use. I still do not have the login sound.
I tried some other .wavand .ogg files. The result was but the same.

so can anybody please help me out in reenabling the login sound???

Something else I forgot to mention, xmms and vlc could play media files as usual. There is absolutely no problem in that. Only that the login sound is missing.
