K3b cannot rip files

I have installed K3b 0.11.19 on my slackware 10.0 machine. I am running KDE 3.2.3. I have run the K3b setup. I am able to burn a cd but cannot rip files off audio cds. I have appended my lilo.conf with scsi emulation. I have not been able to google any fixes for my problem. The error reads...."could not open device /dev/sr0"

Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any idea what I can do to get K3b to rip cds? Please let me know what information you might need from me.

firstly if you can burn a cd......your cdburner is working so you may not know how to rip?

k3b
pulldown tool cd
copy cd
change to only copy image to rip
select pathway to save wav files

note you do not mount a audio cd so do not try getting to it via /mnt/cdrom which me thinks you may be trying?

I know how to use K3b to rip files. I have done it before when I was running Slackware 9.1 on the 2.2 kernel. However now when I use K3b to rip files it begins and then gives me the error I previously posted. Anyone have a similar problem???
