Could anyone tell me which files I need to create a bootdisk for Slackware 8.0? I understand the RAWRITE command because I've used it for RH, but I don't see which files I need to write to my floppy.
Originally posted by nautilus_1987 Maybe you should just setup boot sequence in BIOS for your machine to load from CDROM, so you don't need to create any floppy ...
The box is too old to do that. That's why my question is about boot disks.
As I can remember my friend also couldn't boot up machine from cdrom, so he just copied some boot image to diskete ( from Slack CD ) , went to BIOS made a boot seq from floppy and VUALIA! Linux booted
I hope your BIOS supports booting from floppy
You might wanna try a different image (maybe you have some odd hardware)? Can you supply input or does it just go all on it's own. Maybe you need to specify a partition?

:dunno:
I think I'll leave RH 7.1 on this box (Neptune) and install Slackware on a box that can boot from CD (Jupiter).
But you could try another image Also, maybe a semi more detailed list of your hardware might help someone to point you in the right direction. Also, does it pause at any point, acting like it's waiting for input, or better yet, are you getting inpatient while it's loading and 'assuming' it stopped at LI?
