how to change keyboard layout instantly

Okay, well I am trying to learn how to type in the Dvorak layout instead of qwerty layout, but I still need to be able to type in qwerty while I learn so I can type papers for school and I can't spend hours trying to type it in Dvorak. So my question becomes, is there any way to instantly (well close to that) switch keyboard layout via either a keyboard shortcut or an applet so I wouldn't have to change the keyboard files and reboot.

setxkbmap dvorak

mrclisdue: You are a life saver. I figured out how to do it now. Now the question becomes, what key binding is not being used by the programs I have. This could take a while.
