I need to go to bed, but what does "herculetest" resolve to?
Maybe that will lead you in the right direction.
Well, if I set in my windows localmachine in etc drivers host(s) the hostname and the ip and if I ping the centos linux machine server it resolves me the IP but if I don't have that line in etc drivers host it dosen't 'cause in our domain controller the dns name is not set.
The user: "chrism01" I think he has 100% right but i'm waiting for the programmators to change in the configuration of informix server the ip 127.0.0.1 with the real IP as I don't know how to do that.
I asked the programmators to look in the informix configuration to change to ip to the real ip but they said that in informix configuration (onconfig) there is no such thing. Still, I belive that what you said is right, and it does really needs to be the original IP as if I log in as root and do telnet localhost 1526 it connects but I can't connect from a remote windows machine. SO I belive it's all ok since I can connect from localhost but not from a remote machine since the IP isn't 172.16.100.11 and it's 127.0.0.1
I'm not really sure that they know what they do so that's why I'm asking you a help, a favor. Can you please documentation on this problem and advice me on what should I do next ?
If I ping localhost it resolves me 127.0.0.1 if I ping myserver it resolves me the ip so everything's ok, I gues.
Do I need to have the ip of the remove machines in hosts.allow ?
This page says port 9090 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docvie...n&rss=ct632db2, but I've never worked with Informix.
As mentioned in another thread, you should probably ring your informix supplier and get some advice there I think.
chrism01, you really deserve a thanks. The programmers needed to add the following line into informix/etc/sqlhosts
yourserver onsoctcp yourserverip 1526
You also need to check your /etc/hosts in your linux box to have the proper hostname set correctly (associated with it's server IP) - which was good in my server.
