Help with install

This is the second time this has happened. Once with a red hat 6.2 install and now with a smooth wall install.
I installed smoothwall on a 533 Mhz amd computer with 128 MB ram and when I boot it all I get is 0's and 1's on the screen. This happened before on the same system when I installed Red Hat 6.2. Any clues? When I installed Red Hat there was no LILO or anything, the screen immediately went to 1's and 0's, and same with Smoothwall.

In my past history, when I had this problem it was with an AMD processor that basically melted itself. The CPU cooling fan had quit spinning and the thing just melted...

Thanks for the reply and here is something that I left out. I did an net install of Debian and it worked just fine with no problems at all. Any other suggestions?

I did find this thread which implies that it might be a problem with LILO not being setup properly. You can read through, but it looks like maybe you have to boot with a rescue disk and then run /sbin/lilo -v -l.

Debian uses grub by default (well since Sarge anyway). So you wouldn't get a LILO error...

Any particular reason for Red Hat 6.2? That's pretty old...

Hey thanks for the help, it actually pointed me in the right direction.
It was basically user error. I had the hard drive configured incorrectly. I didn't have it jumpered properly and it was in the second IDE controller.
The thread gave me insight on what the problem might be.
I was installing red hat 6.2 for a hack fest we were having at a local chapter of the 2600 and it was going to be one of the defense boxes. Thanks for all your help. I appreciate it.
