doubt in creating man page for my utility

Hi,
I am having a problem in creating a man page for my utility. Actually I dont have an administrative permission, and so I am not able to copy my man page in /usr/share/man directory.

Is there any other way to create my man page without administrative permission so that other users can see the man page by just typing
"man my_util"

please can any one help me in doing this. I am using Redhat 7.2.

and can any one send me a doc or a link reagarding how to edit or create a man page in detailed.

Thanks
M.Kannan

Hi,

If all user need to be able to access the manpage(s) you created you probably want/need help from the sysadmin. All directories pointing to manpages have restricted permissions.

You could create your own manpage directory, but other users must add the new path to their MANPATH variable and there's the possibility that they get an 'access denied' message.

Here's a link that describes creating manpages for linux (the 'old' way, using groff/nroff):

Creating a Linux Manual (man) Page

Hope this helps.
