Exclamation /dev/lp0 not found (not detected)

Hi all.
Yesterday i compiled the new kernel, and after that at boot up when the lp0 tries to start up it says that /dev/lp0 was not found, not detected.
I don't know what's going. I selected everything in the kernel for parallel port support and all that was needed.
A file called lp0 appeared in my home directory, I really am pretty clueless what's going on with this.
Any insight?, thanks a lot guys.
