No /dev/lp0 in Gentoo 1.4

I have installed Gentoo 1.4 and I have no /dev/lp0. I have checked and I have parallel support in my kernel. How do I go about adding lp0?
Thanks

The Gentoo Printing Guide helped me out. Check it out at:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/printing-howto.xml
Make sure you include everything in the kernel that they mention and note the differences for 2.6 if that is what you are running.

I add footmatic, character device support for my printer, and gimp-print like it said in the document and now it works great. Thanks
