cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature

i have a VNF3-250 Motherboard (chipset nForce-3) AMD64 3400+ processor.

whenever i run the following command

Code:
cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature
i always get this output

Code:
temperature:             40 C
my amdPowerNow CPU is adjusted with cpufreq between 1Ghz minimum, and 2.4Ghs maximim. this tempreture seems oo low (40 C) and doesnt change,,, ever.
nomatter if im running 1Ghz or 2.4Ghz, the tempreture does not change.. whats going on ?

Hi Quij,

what kernel are you using?

I'm on a 2.4.28 atm, and since 2.4.2x always had
TWO THM's in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/ ... one
(THM0) is my CPU, and one (THM1) is (supposedly)
my HDD, but the machine doesn't actually monitor that.

Code:
$ cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/temperature
temperature:             59 C
Code:
$ cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM1/temperature
temperature:             50 C
The 50 one is constant thus...

Cheers,
Tink

kernel 2.6.9-gentoo-r12

this is so annoying !

having given up on acpi temptreature, i decided to give lm_sensors a try.

i have run sensor-detect, which found an onboard it87 isa sensor card.
the correct drivers modprobed.

however i know my cpu keeps a constant 49-50 C when running at 2.4Ghz.
however sensors thows it to be 60, and my motherboard to be even hotter than my CPU, 65.

googleing said that sensors might be configured for the wrong trpe of sensor (thermistor / thermal diode) so i switched the sensor type in /etc/sensors.conf.

which made it even worse (-120 C)

Why oh Why do motherboard manufaturers put there sensors on the motherboards, then release absolutly no documentation on how to use them !
