Post Boot messages without graphics and better resolution

Hi,
I am runnning Mandrake 9.0 on my laptop which I happened to install from source. When I boot up, I see the boot messages with big fonts and it covers the entire screen. How can I reduce their size and make it appear somewhere in the center of the screen?

Also, in a clean install of Mandrake 9.0 (in another machine), I notice the bootsplash image during the boot-message. Is there a way to take off the image?

Thanks,
Sri.

Well you can see the boot message with pressing the keys Ctrl+pgdn or Ctrl+pgup at once. But the size of the 'fonts' are determined by the locales that you have compiled. As for the bootsplash image-I think you meant the the splash image at the lilo prompt-you can definately remove it,just edit your /etc/lilo.conf file.
