Best multimedia Linux

Which Linux distros are the best if you were planning on doing video editing or a lot of CD and DVD work?

any will be fine, it's about the applications you use under them, not the distro itself...

In fact it depends very much on the distro as it determines the applications you have available without having to hunt them down on the net and installing them yourself.

I just recently stumbled over http://www.dynebolic.org/ and it sounds exactly like what you are looking for. It is like KNOPPIX but spezialized towards video editing, supposedly even has some clustering stuff (mosix) built in.

I do not know if it is trustworthy, as it looks a lot like a hacker community thing, but I have not found any warnings yet (via google) and they are listed on freshmeat.net.

Good luck - I downloaded it and will try it later.

this may work ---> Evil Entity Linux
from distro watch:
A distribution like no other! It's primary goal is to provide the best home or dorm-room desktop environment possible. "EvilE" is not a server distribution and not a corporate workstation platform -- it's simply the most fun and useful tool you can install on your PC! Now you can install Linux and be up and running, online, ripping MP3s, burning CD's, watching DVD's and TV, editing video, and 3D models in minutes. No longer will you have to spend a week compiling downloaded programs to have a usable environment and NEVER will you have to boot into the outdated, unstable, piece of dog shit called MS Windows (especialy since EvilE blows out your Windows partion during the install -- for the good of mankind of course).
