Hi, I am having problems with Unreal Tournament on RedHat 9.0. When I go to play it the first thing I notice is that I cannot see hardly anything. The graphics lag, the sound lags, and the mouse lags. I think my computer isnt fond of software rendering OpenGL graphics but Im sure Im wrong. It could possibly be that I may need to update a driver? Does anyone have any ideas?
When I was running UT2k3 on Redhat, I had some similar issues (only with sound though, video was great after I had the driver configured)
I went through hell trying making sure I had the right audio drivers to fix my sound woas. Installing and reinstalling them and all that fun stuff...nothing worked. The audio would work great for mp3's and movies...it only lagged in games....dammit...because I'm a pretty avd gamer.i
I switched to SuSE 9 and haven't had a problem since...I know that's the newbie way to fix things, and isn't very savy, but it worked really well, and my games are flawless now...
Ok, thanks for the help. I may consider that, I have the iso's on my HDD so I might just do that. I also hear that RH 10 is out so I may upgrade to it or go to Mandrake 9.2 im unsre.

Rep:
mandy is a good distro, but use 10 (even though i get good performance on my 9.1), because people have talked about major speed increases. just a thought.
and something els, UT is verry dark under linux, try to fool around with the brightness bar in the menu, and it will get way to light, but he you can see something....
furthere more: i use SuSe 9.0 so i do not know anything about RedHat. but NVidia drivers are hard to install without the right kernel. and its a real bitch about it...
better question: what kind of 3d card is there in your PC?
taken that
I just recently switched to suse 9 in an attempt to not screw with the problem but luck has it of course....I have the very same damn problem as i was on redhat.... As for my card i have a Chaintech Nvidia GF4 MX440 128mb AGP 8x.
