I have just started playing this game myself:

Promising so far. If you like strategy games, I have also tried Boswars, which is also ok.

More adictive is the Tux racer game. I couldn't find the Site for it just now, only the wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tux_Racer

Good training...

There is an older version of Quake that was specially designed to run on Linux and Unix systems and with a little tinkering you can setup your own game server for Quake and invite all your friends to play. I wish that someone would port "serious sam" to Linux in the same way. A couple of game level editors would be good as well.

Remember to install them with the package manager of your distribution.

Most distros have a ton of games in their repos. Try using whatever package manager your distro comes with and look under Games.

I dont know either of those, but i have been known to play Planeshift from time to time.

http://www.planeshift.it/

Im afraid im quite boring beyond that.

I play a little Doom3/Quake4 from time to time. Counterstrike 1.6 on occasion.

But my favourite game is LBreakout which you can get (on Fedora) from Freshrpms. Or from the sourceforge site for everyone else.

http://lgames.sourceforge.net/

Warsow is fairly boring, and too fast for me.

9Dragons is sorta like a free martial arts runescape style RPG with massively impressive graphics comparable to those of WoW, are there any games like that for linux?
