Full UT2004 help with sound

When I play the game it plays but there is no sound. I get this error:

open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy
Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0".

I tried playing as a regular user and as root

still no sound.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Are you playing any other games (Quake 3, ET etc.) with no sound probs?

ARTS is a common culprit.

Ok I shutdown arts and the sound works. So that is the fix just don't run arts. I did this by checking "ps axu | grep arts" then kill <pid>

that is the solution

I suppose it is. I personally would rather have sound in UT2004 than run ARTS anyday. Of course, I also don't use ARTS so it's not an issue. lol
