installing FTP server on Envivo Mediaplayer HD / MSI HD1000 (realtek based)
My actual question maybe has nothing to do with the device I'm trying to master.
In short:
What is the difference in this:
/usr/local/etc/sftpd # daemon.sh start
and
/ # /usr/local/etc/sftpd/daemon.sh start
I wanted a simple (stupid) ftp daemon on my enVivo Mediaplayer/MSI HD1000, since the samba server isn't stable: totally inaccessable from my slackware box, and it just disconnects from windows boxes while copying. I found a how-to on installing a simple (but effective and stable) ftp server: just telnet to the device, create a directory for the daemon, copy some files to /usr/local/etc/sftpd and edit the startup script. All quit easy, but I couldn't get the daemon running as I was using the first command: being in the directory calling daemon.sh to 'start'
Than, as I was trying to find out what went wrong, I issued the second command: same thing, but now from the root directory. What is the difference and why??!
