Need a distribution that can be installed from a USB cd/dvd drive to IDE flash

Has anyone successfully installed a linux distribution from a usb-attached cd/dvd drive to an IDE flash device, such as Transcend's TS2GDOM40V (http://www.transcendusa.com/Products...=26&LangNo=0)?

I've been trying to install Fedora Core 6 on a computer sold by Devon IT, model NTA 6020A (http://www.devonit.com/terminals/ter...s_features.php) and the install hangs, at a different point each time.

I need to know about distributions that have been successfully installed on this kind of hardware.

Thanks.
Bob
