I don't see any problems, i have a great OS in Slackware and i see lots of posts on here from people moving to linux seeking help. Where is the problem? Linux is all about choice, so choose what ever you like.

I think the standards that Skrilla refers to is in the nature of having a diverse community which to me is one of Linux's strengs.

With regard to promoting products, this is usually done by distribution maintainers that have something to sell. Individual 'hobiest' distributions are never going to have the same exposure and never will do.

Hardware support is a very difficult spot to cover. Most hardware is supported directly by the kernel so the distribution rarely affects this. It is more likely to be the hardware detection methods which are not always as automatic as they could be. Live CDs such as knoppix due to their nature are really helping to change this.

Skrilla, I'm not 100% sure about this sentence "My suggestion is this community needs to get their act together." Are you talking in terms of communication?
