Talking Installing Linux as a partitionless installation

Help! Please!

I have a Compaq Presario 1200 my resources meets all the requirements to load linux, but my problem is that I'm loading it as a partitionless OS. My primary OS is Windows ME. Now! Once Linux is installed I restart my computer to access it but the same thing always come up; that the kernel is missing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
