Gentoo python problem (btdownload, gdesklets etc.)

Good day everyone,

Since I "emerge -u world" yesterday all applications using python don't work anymore... I found this on a web site (https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg00228.html):

=>
"Well, a problem I've had was a simple issue of the path.

$ rpm -q python
python-2.3.3-6
$ rpm -ql bittorrent | grep site-packages | head -1
/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/BitTorrent

The solution was simply
export PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages

and then go run bittorrent as below."
<=

So somehow my apps look in the wrong places for Python (or look for the old python)??? I tried the above command but it doesn't work, also I don't know what it does . I currently run Python 2.4.

Can anyone help me an give me detailed explanation of what to do?

Thanx in advance...

Remember all those messages that go scrolling by - it pays to read some of them.
Have a look in make.conf.example for a description of how to create a portage log directory.

In this case you need to run python-updater - should be all that's required.

That was it, thanx for the super-fast response.

Yeah, I know it is important but mostly I do something like:
"emerge -u world && prelink -amR && updatedb && shutdown -h now"
Which makes me miss these things... Maybe I should let "at" do it and produce a text file with everything that happened so I can check that...

Anyway, it's all good now, thanx.

Cu.
