Okay, I'm building a media center with Myth TV. For now, I'm going to use KnoppMyth, just to get going, but I want to do it eventually in a way that I can boot up regular linux whenever I want to, and I don't want a really default looking KDE. My question is, which linux distro is easiest to get good media support (Windows media etc.) but still looks good? Kubuntu and SuSE look good, but I don't think they have very good media support do they?
Videolinux's ISP has closed down the website. It was based on PCLinuxOS, and you can add MythTV to that. There is a guy who does independent multimedia builds for PCLOS known as Thac and he has made MythTV available for PCLOS.
As for its other multimedia capabilities, read the various reviews at this site.
PCLinuxOS is looking good, it's like mepis with a makeover. I'm still going to try the newest Mepis, but the older versions had very good multimedia support, but did not look very good in default trim, and most of the good looking KDE skins were for newer kde versions, and I didn't know how to make them. I like how PCLinux OS has a startup option for verbose mode, but doesn't default to it, it looks much cleaner.
