KDE Restarts after Login

I'm running Kubuntu 7.10 Beta fully patched and only recently started having a problem with it.

Whenever I login, it looks like a script tries to run, and then KDE restarts and I'm presented back at the KDM login.

I am able to login via safemode, but I'm not sure what I should do with that.

Help would be much appreciated.

Note: I'm running Compiz Fusion off of my nvidia card driver.

Cheers,
Nils

Does this happen when you disable Compiz?
Usually when KDE does this it is because there are some corrupt KDE files in the user's /home directory.
If you can create a new user, does the new user log in without issues?

Yeah it continues with compiz disabled. When I created a new user, it said it couldn't load kstartupmanager and failed to login.

Cheers,
Nils

You might want to do a fresh install of 7.10 stable

Before you do a fresh install, have you tried moving your ~/.kde folder first? Just rename it to .kde.old and see if KDE logs in with the default settings at least. Its possible some script in ~/.kde/Autostart (or some such local setting) is causing problems.
You also might want to check the logs (~/.xsession-errors? /var/log/messages? I dunno) to see if there's a hint of the problem.
