Bluetooth Headphones Keep Disconnecting

And I don't know why. I'm sitting right in front of the computer, about a metre away, and they're fully charged.

I may not be much help, but the same happens to me, bluetooth on Linux seems to be a bit wonky. Usually a reboot will reset bluetooth.

But, since Ubuntu uses systemd, you should have a way of resetting bluetooth, sometimes that works. On Slackware I would try this to reset:

Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.bluetooth stop && sleep 4 && /etc/rc.d/rc.bluetooth start
pulseaudio -k
You should try the corresponding systemd commands before trying a reboot.

FWIW, I bought BT-W2 and that works great, but I have no need for a microphone. That is only used to listen to streams.

Are the headphones paired with more than one device, eg your phone and your pc? If so, try disabling bluetooth on all other devices besides your PC and see if the problem corrects itself.

What kind of radio frequency interference is physically on the 2.4GHz band in your area? If there are enough other signals interfering, they can knock out the Bluetooth even when the device is rather close to the computer.

According to the info on the box the battery life is 17 hours (per charge?) and it takes 3 hours to fully recharge it. I've been leaving them connected to the charging port of my laptop overnight. Could I have overcharged the battery?

Your Bluetooth dongle isn't overheating, is it? If it is, there should be something in "dmesg".

I had a case where my game controllers kept disconnecting, and the problem turned out to be the USB hub that my Bluetooth dongle was connected to.

The headphones don't have a dongle.
