Another s/w install question . . .

Linare came with Mozilla 1.6 -- via Synapic I have tried to upgrade to the 1.7 version. Synaptic will not allow the upgrade due to a conflict with 'linare-menu" conflict. Is there any solution to this ?? Tks, -Emmett

I haven't tried this with Linare, but you can download the Mozilla package directly from Mozilla.com and install it via its own installer. When you unpack the file, I think the install script is called just that, install or install.sh. Now, I don't know what this might do to your Linare install, maybe nothing, but I would always use caution when upgrading, especially a customized distro like Linare. I don't know what the difference is between the two Mozilla versions, but if 1.6 does everything you want, it might be as well to use it until Linare get's their own repositories working.
Anyway, good luck, and please post back about what happens if you do try this.
:-)

Hi BigIron45 .... Being that Linare is so customized, that is the main reason that I was wondering if anyone else hit the linare-menu conflict. I also agree that there is no real feature difference between 1.6 and 1.7 ...... but as an aside, the same problem with Linare with uograding OpenOffice. I appreciate the comments .... Tks, Emmett
