I haven't tried this with Linare, but you can download the Mozilla package directly from Mozilla.com and install it via its own installer.When you unpack the file, I think the install script is called just that, install or install.sh. Now, I don't know what this might do to your Linare install, maybe nothing, but I would always use caution when upgrading, especially a customized distro like Linare. I don't know what the difference is between the two Mozilla versions, but if 1.6 does everything you want, it might be as well to use it until Linare get's their own repositories working.
