I understand why a couple of posts have mentioned not advertising the fact that you use Linux, but why shouldn't someone be able to use that as part of a game name if it's something they love?

If someone likes Star Wars, they may use "Darth" as part of the name. If someone likes Corvettes, they might use "Vette" as part of a name. Why should it be different if you really like an operating system so much that you would make it part of a game name for the same reason that is so often used: Naming your avatar after something you like. Using Linux as part of the name for me has to do with it being something I like.

Would that mean that if I named my avatar "Crazy Diamond" and someone said "I hate people who like Pink Floyd" that I should change the name so I don't "advertise" an interest in a certain band?

Not intended to be a flame or argumentative, just another perspective

Well why bother defending yourself in enemy territory(no pun intended), when the enemy has no apparent interest in your existence or your cause other than to insult you.

Winning an argument in a FPS is like winning the race at the retard olympics. Your cause is vein.
