Basically it would turn into a fractal of sorts. As the first portal (let's say the blue one) is being inserted into the orange one, it would start to come out of itself, which in turn would have another "copy" coming out of it, ad infinitum. Although each "copy" would be half the previous one's size, so you wouldn't be able to see them into infinity or anything like that.
I find that sort of thing really scary.
Imagine you are looking at a steel spring. Look closely and it is a steel rod bent round and round. Zoom out and it is a tube. Imagine the tube is bent round and round like a spring. Zoom out and it is a tube. Imagine the tube is bent round and rou...

It's been proven that chicks dig Linux. Every time I'm deep in thought, concentrating as much as possible on just the right syntax and keystroke of some command..... My wife is mysteriously drawn to me wanting to discuss any number of meaningless things! This fact has proven itself over and over again!

Sometimes I get a little creeped out when I have XaoS open (a really nice, fast fractal viewer) and I'm zooming into a Julia set. It...won't...stop! Especially creepy if you do the "rabbit ears" fractal...
I mean, it's pretty and all, but just thinking about how sharp that thing would be if it could be a physical object — O_o
*shudder* I think I've just invented a new kind of ninja weapon...

If this is a real thing I NEED to know. My Dr. wants to put me on cholesterol lowering meds and we're supposed to discuss it Monday, so I am eating everything that I might feel guilty about later, prior to him actually writing the prescription!
