Ubuntu Flavors....

I guess it was bound to happen...Ubuntu gets Religion.

Here is the Christian version

Ubuntu Christian Edition

(Please Note Ubuntu Christian edition has an obnoxious website. I linked to distrowatch instead.)

Here is the Muslim Version

UbuntuME

Why don't they make Ecumenical Linux so that you can get faith specific packages without having to silo a distro by a given faith?

The "Ubuntu satanic edition" is also available for quite some time.

EDIT:
it might be an interesting (and completely useless) task to make a distribution with packages for every religion translated into every language.
Honestly, I think internationalization alone is enough "fun", also (IMHO) a good computer OS should be neutral to anything (religion, politics, etc), since computers and faith are completely unrelated to each other.

Great, another place where religion rears it's ugly head. I like my distro secular, thank you very much.

Sort makes the whole Windows vs Linux or Apple vs Linux arguments kind of tame.

Oh the possibilities...

Everybody is ok with the current existance of a plethora of Linux distributions which strive to serve the needs of various groups of people; but when something targeted towards a specific religious group comes out...

Oh the drama. So don't use Ubuntu Christian Edition KTHXBYE.

Description from DW: "The goal of Ubuntu Christian Edition is not to bring Christianity to Linux but to bring Linux to Christians."

Heck, I am a christian [easter orthodox curch, or whatever it's called] but I don't use ubuntuce. I don't use *ubuntu* period.

As for Ubuntu "Satanic Edition" all I can say is: LOL - kids..

All Slackware users are members of The Church Of The SubGenius, whether they realise it or not.

I have no plans to use it, nor to use SatanicUbuntu either.

Really, a fellow 'orthodox', cool! It is nice to see more of us around. Honestly if I were born into a non orthodox belief, such as evangelical, it would be far more easier for me to just outright consider myself an atheist, but I am just agnostic. I have a long mistrust of evangelicals and other 'so-called-christians' which stems with the tying of the majority of these people and the policies of Bush, but I did not mean to go too far into this, so I digress immediately and leave it at that.

True, and I have actually listened to quite a few podcasts from the Church of The Subgenius. Quite entertaining if I may say so. The style of the 'sermons' are like those of the 'evangelicals', but thats what makes it so funny, and it is a clear attack on these types of religious twats and also particularly the Church of Scientology. I like that, and as far as I'm concerned religion does need a good slap in the face. The Church of The Subgenius is more or less a 'parody' religion, see their site, or the wikipedia article on them.

Discordian Linux. You install it on your computer, and then realize that it has instead installed itself on your parent's computer or your other computer, even though the computer you intended to install it on, is not even connected to your network.

Can you boot up Ubuntu Christian Edition on a Sunday? Are women allowed to use the Muslim Edition?

If there were a Jewish version, I am sure the system would refuse to function on Fridays, and just shut itself down.

Now lets see what happens if all three editions are installed on the same drive, I guess we have ourselves a digital holy-war.
