He chuckled that some organizations are exempt.
Chara ties are exempt and certain company's that you have had a relationship with are exempt. Even still, I would check that out and find out the truth/law.
If you really wanted to your could send them a cease and desist letter. Worked for me.-
When I made my post, I had just received my 3rd unsolicited phone call for that day.
And it woke me up while I was trying to alleviate some back pain.
I told the guy I was on the federal and state do not call list.
He chuckled that some organizations are exempt.
I know that many organizations that ask for people's home or cell phone numbers sell those numbers.
When asked for my cell number, I mark it N/A.
I will now consider not giving my home phone if there is an option to contact me by email.
Take care.
Thank you for the clarification. Here in Canada, I am also on the federal do not call
list, however it doesn't stop unsolicited calls. Which is very annoying.
I believe the reason is that the phone service provider (TELUS) makes a ton of money
from telemarketers and doesn't want to stop the gravy train.

Perhaps use caller ID? For a POTS line I use an answerphone and if I'm not expecting a call I let that pick up. For my mobile if I don't recognise the number and I'm not expecting a call I let it ring out (goes to voicemail also) and will only answer the second time then just put the phone down to any scum. Tends to work OK though it's tougher when I'm looking for work and the like and need to accept calls -- still, just putting the phone down on scum helps my blood pressure if nothing else.
I have a similar tactic with unsolicited doorsteppers -- if I don't recognise them and they're not carrying a parcel I'm expecting I'm not opening the door, if I do open the door anyhow and they try to sell me something I close the door.
If it weren't for pathetic phone and weapon laws in this country I'd tell cold-calleers to "F*** off!" and turn up at the door with my katana drawn to anybody I wasn't expecting. Sadly both are illegal here.
(As to the religious aspect of this thread -- I'm an atheist and not particularly fond of religion but tolerate religious talk out of respect for individuals rather than religions.)

Caller ID works in avoiding the face to face phone calls.
But, they never give up. And it does nothing for those robo callers.
I have even had robo callers for doctors that I used to go to.
I really appreciate that you are tolerant.
There are many posts that I find very distasteful, but I try to keep cool, calm, and collected.

I tend to work on the premise that I know whether somebody is likely to try to contact me and when they're not I just ignore any incoming communication and check messages. For normal folks out there perhaps turn the ringer down on your phone and do things like ask relatives to text before they call or, if it's possible on your phone, have a ring tone for important people in your life.
Most of our unchurched friends would actually like to hear about our faith.
79% don't mind us talking about our faith.
50% would accept an invitation to attend church.
please provide the source of this.
otherwise i have to assume you made those numbers up.
How could "god" be so popular if not for solicitation, let alone evolution? Have a fun week-start!
It's already fun. :-)
My work-week doesn't start for another day so it's all good here .
Most would not like my schedule. My job needs people on the weekends with Halloween coming up, as we ship costume and party supplies. I always try to remain flexible (pun, especially throwing heavy boxes around 50 feet up) so when everyone else said, "I have to have 2 days straight off" I said, whenever and got Sunday's and Tuesday's. Soon overtime anyway, will rest when I'm dead!

Didn't ask, so don't tell me. To go one step farther, I've long worked with an Orthodox Jew and I asked him the details about leaving early on Friday and other stuff and he and I talked for quite a bit. He was not a blind faith person, in fact he was very well thought about a lot of topics involving morals, life, death, and many other things. I always had good respect for him not because of the hat, but because he's just a decent person. Never once would he talk about his religion to me otherwise, just one particular day I raised the topic and kept asking him questions. He also never asked me back any questions, or implied I was on the wrong path, or tried to make me feel I needed to change anything about who I am.

Actually I do mind, and personally I usually keep my yap shut, and hope that those who "project" stuff would return the favor, but they never seem to do so.

Wrong again. I was raised in a faith and I'm respectful and attend services when there are funerals, weddings, or even memorial services which are important to other people in my life, but I'd rather people not assume this means I'm complacent and agree with their beliefs. Not ONE SINGLE pious person concurs with what "I" choose to believe in, instead what they do is quote bible versus ad nausea and ignore my personal point of view. Now how open-minded is THAT? I know its a lot, however people can go read the Faith and Religion Megathread and I've shared some stuff in there. But how odd and funny it is that the projectors of faith seem to just go on and on and never wish to accept or respect anything I or similar thinking persons may say about their beliefs.

Neverless, I do hope you have a good weekend, don't die, injure yourself, or otherwise have any bad stuff happen in your life, family, etc. I just don't believe classically as you and some others do. Respectfully give it a rest. After all, I do unless I see stuff that catches my eye at the right or wrong moment.
The ONLY recent experience where I found some joy in a church was in driving by a local church the wife went "Hah!!! It says 'Signs are broken. Please come inside.'" Now THAT was hilarious!

I'm a Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, wage slave but today is a public holiday here in the UK (our last before christmas) and I have taken tomorrow off too so the long weekend has been all about relaxing.
I must admit, I find religions interesting and have spoken to a few religious people about them but I also have to admit I can tend to view the religious as somewhat gullible or needy even though I realise that isn't always the case. I have my own brand of what could almost be called nihilism which means that, together with my respect for others generally*, people do not try to convert me so I can have interesting discussions .
*Edit: I know I may have seemed to have shown a degree of disrespect by my previous statement but I tend to find that, for the most part, individuals have their own reasons and motivations and most I find very sensible. The odd person who does use belief to harm others of for whom belief seems harm in itself do seem rarer than one would expect given headline news and the like.

Oh well, once again I am in the minority.
If it weren't for the fact the figures sound completely made up, and certainly don't have any reflection in the particular part of the world I live in.
I look forward to a world one day where proselytism is a thing of the past and people just love each another (and animals and the environment) for the sake of it, and not because someone else tells them to do so with a whole load of strings attached.
