Sound Quality

I don't know what I did but I have lost my great sound quality! I tried adding the sound wire to the back of my DVD palyer and connected it to my sound card. I figured this would help with the sound playback in the CD Player (Sound worked fine in XINE) Well, it messed something up and now the quality is not good. I removed the wire but it still is poor. Any suggestions on how I can restore my sound quality? I should have just left it alone.

Rick
