Problems playing VCD, mpeg

Hi,
I am using FC3 which has totem player. But it doesn't play VCDs, mpeg's,etc. There can't be problem with VCD b'cos they are genuine & they play well with my VCD player connected to TV. There can't be problem with my Combo drive b'cos i could play mp3's on xmms. I tried adding plug-ins by yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg. The installation went fine. Then tried yum install gstreamer-extras-video. Still can't play movies on my PC. I have read article in answers "Playing DVD & videos" by mhearn. Any suggestions plz of what could b wrong & how rectify it.

rpm.livna.org is an interesting repository you should look through. It is full of things that are missing from FC3 for various reasons. I notice that one rpm is vcdimager-0.7.20-0.lvn.4.3.i386.rpm. The rpms can be found at rpm.livna.org/fedora/3/i386/yum/stable/RPMS/.

Installation was successfull but coudn't play VCDs, mpegs, ...
