Kernel Panic?

I've intalled grub onto a floppy disk using the Fedora Core 3 rescue CD.

Grub fires up as required, and I enter the following details:

Code:
<grub> root (hd0,0)
<grub> kernel /boot/vmlinux-x.x.x.x.x /dev/hda1
<grub> boot
Linux appears to start up, until:

Code:
Kernel panic - not synching: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown - block(8,3)
Any suggestions welcome (This is killing me =)

u need to make sure that ur filesystem support is compiled into the kernel. if u are using ext3 , u need to compile suppport for ext3 into the kernel. the reason you get this error if becuase the kernel cant open the filesystem becuase its missing the modules to do so. its a chicken and egg problem. or u can go with the initrd.
