Illegal instruction / Won't Boot after up2date glibc

I have a fedora Core 3 Server, original Kernel, a few up2date's.

I ran up2date glibc-common and it downloaded all the dependancies and installed them, but after that any command from the console woud come back with "Illegal instruction".

On a reboot it hangs at mounting root.

Any ideas if this is repairable?

Probably. Do you have console or is this a remote? I would rollback glibc and glibc-common (for versions see /var/log/rpmkpg.*) manually (unpack rpms, cp files into place, run ldconfig) just to be sure & make it work, then sync (-U --force) the rpm database with those versions. Then before you try upgrading again you will have to find out exactly what packages it tried to update and if any actions including post-install scripts failed. I don't know if up2date logs that in the system log or its own log.

I've had to rebuild, I could not get it to boot, and booting on a rescue CD I was only able to mount the Filesystems, no way to chroot, once I did that I could not issue any commands.
