Guys,
Like hundreds of other people, sound card on my PC does not work after Fedora Core 2 installation. It's a bog standard Creative Labs Sound Blaster PCI card. I've trawled through all the forums and the various half solutions suggested have not solved my problem. I've made sure that all the settable values in alsamixer are non zero, that volume is not muted. Here is a snippet from 'lspci':

02:0a.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 0a)
02:0a.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Live! MIDI/Game Port (rev 0a)

I may add here that this works fine with Windows XP & other Linux distros.
What else can I try?

I have a stock Intel on-board card and have the same problem. The sound card Atuodetect thing in Fedora sees the card (supposedly), but won't play the test sound.

The card works fine in SuSe and Windows XP, though.

Update on this problem.
I installed version 1.0.5 alsa-driver, alsa-libs, and alsa-utils packages from alsa web site.
Instructions on the installation are on this web site. After this the sound works to a degree. I can play sample sounds. I get sound with a no of applications but importantly not with KsCD.
