Sound card not working in Fedora Core 3

I tryed to run the soundcard detection program but when it came up to play the test sound it did not play anything. The card it came up with was Intel Corp. 82891DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller Module: snd-intel8x0.

I googled it and I tryed to unmute the audio but im not 100% sure I got it unmuted. I am running in kde.

I am a newbie to linux so any and all help would make me very thankful.

Smth about configuring ALSA
Unmuting is just setting volume higher than zero.

Describe step by step what you did to configure the soundcard - as much info as possible.
