some modules fail to load after apt-get upgrade
I have an odd problem that I fixed, but don't understand how, or why the problem occured. Last night I upgraded my Debian unstable machine. This morning, X wouldn't start because the nvidia module failed to load. My kernel was not upgraded (it is a custom package), nor was the nvidia module (it was not a debian package). The "nv" module worked OK. Later today, I noticed my sound wasn't working either. I fixed the sound by manually inserting the soundcard module (i810_audio). Before the upgrade, the sound module was loaded automatically.
After I added "nvidia" and "i810_audio" to /etc/modules, X and sound is working again as normal. Anyone know why these modules would stop loading automatically?
