I have managed to install the drivers for my smart link modem. Now whenever I have to connect to the internet I have to first run the daemon that is slmodemd only after that the port for modem is created and is available. I have made the settings so that it can dial to my ISP. Now it dials and makes the hand-shake. The sound is clear while the process. But still cannot surf the internet. When i check the properties it shows the ISP's name servers IP addresses. But still no access to the net ?

I have installed Debian Linux 4.0

Any help in the same.

It's been awhile sents I used a dialup modem, so I may not be any help. Have you setup ppp for your connection?

I tried ppp but it doesn't works. In order to check the dialing I have to go the the network tools and then from there as I activate the modem it starts dialing. To activate the modem I have to first run the slmodemd daemon. Else it doesn't detects the modem.

Any help on the same will be welcomed. I have to manage to use on with dialup untill my broadband connections gets through.
