If you're talking about
"Modem: Smart Link Ltd. SmartLink SmartPCI562 56K Modem (rev 04)"
I went to this link:
http://www.smlink.com/main/index1.php?ln=en&main_id=20
Warning, there may be some annoying adds go get to the download. Hopefully that link will get you there.
It compiled just fine against a custom kernel and loaded without any problems. Just follow the README.
don't know your experience with softmodems and linux (i'm very new) but you have to have a program running that creates your virtual ttySL0 port. If the program is not running, you will not have the virtual serial port. And you must have your modules loaded before this program can run.
I just got this working today (I ordered two modems from compgeeks last week) and they just got here. To be honest I only want them for the caller ID functionality and I don't care how the connection speed works out. I also note that this driver only does V92 and the modem can do V94 (I think). Also strangely enough, caller ID isn't working. (DOH!) I get a RING, but no info. I've done the AT#CID=1 and I've tried CID=2 and the modem says OK, but no caller ID. If I hookup a phone I get the callerID so I'm pretty sure my phone line's ok.
send me an email and I'd be happy to help with any questions.
good luck!
Alan
