problem with glibc

Do you want to upgrade glibc now? [Y/n] y

Unpacking replacement libc6 ...
dpkg: error processing libc6_2.3.5-6_amd64.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite `/lib64', which is also in package lsb-core
Errors were encountered while processing:
libc6_2.3.5-6_amd64.deb
so how am I gonna resolve that?

I think lsb-core is part of my hp printer driver

Make a backup of the file it wants to overwrite and do:
dpkg -i --force-all /path/to/libc6_2.3.5-6_amd64.deb

now stupid glib has messed up

Trying to install locales but it keeps saying
locales: Depends: glibc-2.3.2.ds1-22
I uninstalled it because apt-get told me to

but I have an even newer version which i need for openoffice

this is what loads of packages are syaing

Setting up kernel-headers-2.6.8-11 (2.6.8-14) ...
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
LANGUAGE = "en_GB:en_US:en_GB:en",
LC_ALL = (unset),
LANG = "en_GB"
are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").

Hmm, did you try installing a newer locales? Try with one that matches libc6, namely 2.3.5-6
