Problem with console graphics

Hi, I´m a newby for debian and I have this problem: the console graphics (in KDE Konsole), when I use mc or aptitude for example, show broken lines and superposed characters. I am using debian sarge with 2.6.8 kernel, the last nvidia driver, kde 3.2.3, 1280 x 1024, 24 bit colors. My hardware config is:

pentium 4 1.7 Ghz - 256 Mb Rimm
nvidia Gforce 2 - 64 Mb
Samsung Syncmaster 753DF monitor.

Please tell me if I have to post some config files. Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

Hmmm, I think I recognise the problem. I had it with Konsole too, and not in eg gnome-terminal or xterm. I work around it by changing the font in konsole. But I'm not sure if you're describing the same problem.

I changed the font but I still have the problem. The broken lines that I mentioned above occur when I open a menu in mc for example: when I open the file menu in mc and then I closed, the screen shows black lines, as if the edges of the window were in the screen. The vertical lines in mc are broken too. If I use Gnome terminal I have no problems.

All fixed, it is my fault. I has to change the font to "medium" or "large" in the Konsole, but if I use custom fonts (I was using Bitstream Vera Sans) the problem appears again. Thank sterrenkijker.

You're welcome.

But it's actually not a solution, just a workaround. Maybe we should consider it a bug .
