Nvidia driver trouble after uninstalling/reinstalling

I was having trouble with ogre3d and found some forum posts that said that it was a problem with the nvidia driver packages Debian provides. So I installed the official nvidia drivers using nvidia's installer, uninstalled the nvidia packages, and started X. Everything works fine, including ogre3d.

Next time I boot I see this line that says "Removing NVIDIA TLS links" and then X doesn't work. Every time I boot Linux I have to rerun the nvidia installer program to get X to work.

Try the tutorial I posted in this thread.

It hasn't failed me in any Debian yet.
