Mouse cursor has become HUGE block

I running debian 3.0r2, and KDE 3.2. My mouse cursor has become a huge 3/4 inch block. I looks like a bunch of verticle lines.

I've tried going to configure and changing mouse themes. I tried shutting down kde, and going into xfce, that doesn't work either. Same mouse cursor.

I'm using a usb optical wheel mouse. Debian found the mouse, and installed it correctly when I first installed.

I once had such a problem when I updated xfree86. Cause the problem is also in xfce it's probably a xfree86 problem (I 'm running gnome). I solved it by reconfiguring my x-server:

- First make a backup of the file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Reconfiguring your x-server could fail, and it's always nice to have a way to go back.

- Execute /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config. After you have gone through this program, save your configuration to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. The previous config-file may give you some hints.

Hope this will help. You can always go back to your old configuration by putting your old XF86Config-4 back, in case you totally mess things up .

Succes!

Corien

Haven't had problems with mouse cursor myself, hope changing X configuration solves your problem. Just thought to remind that the Debian way to configure X is to run "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86". To ensure that debconf asks you before making changes to your X config file during updates, configure debconf to use "normal" severity of questions. To reconfigure debconf, run "dpkg-reconfigure debconf".
