apt-get problem


root@paxmaster:/home/paxmaster# apt-get install 3dchess
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?


above is the error that i get, i don't know what is causing it

Do you have an instance of Synaptic running by chance? If so either shut it down or use it instead. You can't call apt on the command line when it's running.

If that's not it, then I don't know, but that's the only time I've seen that message.
